Architect and self-declared “karma economist” Van Bo Le-Mentzel presents a compendium of useful construction plans for lamps, furniture, and the complete furnishing of your flat. Known as “Hartz-IV-Möbel,” these construction plans are now available in book form for the first time.
More than 10,000 global followers heeded his call: build more, buy less, construct instead of consuming. Le-Mentzel celebrates the direct democratic power of the swarm. The funding and development of his book follows this same philosophy: not only did Le-Mentzel collect the money for printing via online crowd funding, he also compiled pictures, texts, and illustrations via Facebook by almost 500 engaged people from seven countries. In this reading, Le-Mentzel shows how he has built a community in seven steps and how he envisions the capitalism of the future. A system in which the needs of the people are emphasized by the exchange of ideas, contacts and stories: Karma Economy.

Der Architekt und selbst ernannte Karma-Ökonom Le-Mentzel präsentiert ein gemeinsam mit seiner Crowd geschriebenes Handbuch mit nützlichen Bauplänen für Möbel, Lampen und ganze Wohnungseinrichtungen. Als so genannte Hartz IV-Möbel sind sie im Internet bekannt geworden. Nun gibt es die Baupläne erstmals in Buchform. Mehr als 10,000 Anhänger sind weltweit seinem Ruf gefolgt: Build more buy less (Konstruieren statt konsumieren). Mit diesem sozialen Designprojekt zelebriert Le-Mentzel die basisdemokratische Macht des Schwarms. Auch die Finanzierung und Entstehung des Buches ist außergewöhnlich: Mittels Crowdfunding, einer internetbasierten Schwarmfinanzierung, kam nicht nur das nötige Geld für den Druck zusammen. Fotos, Texte und Illustrationen wurden von knapp 50000 engagierten Menschen aus sieben Ländern via Facebook zusammengetragen. In dieser Lesung erklärt Le-Mentzel, wie er in sieben Schritten eine Community aufgebaut hat und wie er sich den Kapitalismus der Zukunft vorstellt. Ein System, in dem die Bedürfnisse der Menschen über den Tausch von Ideen, Kontakten und Geschichten in den Mittelpunkt gerückt werden: Karma Economy.
