Brussels-based performance group CREW created a state-of-the-art medium called C.A.P.E. (Computer Automated Personal Environment). It’s a new presentation format that combines an “omni-directional video” (ODV) cinematic experience with a self-executed performance. In Berlin, CREW presents C.A.P.E Brussels, created for the World Expo in Shanghai (September, 2010) and C.A.P.E Tohoku, created in 2011 and presented at the International Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) and at the Museumsquartier, Vienna.
Discover an entirely novel way to document and experience far-away places and events with C.A.P.E. Visit the site of the 2011 tsunami in Japan through C.A.P.E Tohoku, walk through Brussels in a way you never did before with C.A.P.E. Brussels, and see what could be the future of documentary filmmaking.
CREW’s performance experiments translate ODV for the world of live arts. By establishing a new intimacy with the spectator and mixing real and virtual experiences in novel ways, CREW’s work offers an investigation into the way immersive technologies can lead to new forms of live experience.
C.A.P.E was created by Eric Joris, Vincent Jacobs, Chantalla Pleiter, Philippe Bekaert, Vicky Vermoezen, Koen Goossens, and Hilde Teuchies.

Die Performance-Gruppe CREW aus Brüssel hat das neue Medium C.A.P.E. (Computer Automated Personal Environment) entwickelt. Es handelt sich um ein neues Präsentationsformat, das eine „omnidirektionale Video“(ODV)-Kinoerfahrung mit selbst ausgeführter Performance verknüpft. In Berlin präsentiert CREW die Programme "C.A.P.E Brussels", das für die Weltausstellung in Shanghai (September 2010) entwickelt wurde, und "C.A.P.E. Tohoku", das 2011 entwickelt und auf dem Internationalen Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) sowie im Museumsquartier (Wien) präsentiert wurde.
Mit C.A.P.E. können sie auf eine ganz neue Art entlegene Orte und Veranstaltungen erleben. Besuchen Sie mit "C.A.P.E. Tohoku" den Tsunami-Schauplatz von 2011 in Japan oder spazieren Sie mit "C.A.P.E Brussels" durch Brüssel und erleben Sie, wie die Zukunft des Dokumentarfilms aussehen könnte.
CREWs Performance-Experimente machen ODV für die Welt künstlerischer Live-Darbietungen nutzbar. Durch eine neue Intimität mit dem Zuschauer und der neuartigen Kombination von realen und virtuellen Erfahrungen lotet CREWs Werk die Möglichkeiten neuer Technologien für live Erlebnisse aus.
