In the full-length feature Sankat City (2009), discover how black humor can be used to express experiences where the public and the private constantly collide with one another. From acclaimed Indian director Pankaj Advani, this witty, dark comedy, which takes place in Mumbai, unfolds as a series of eccentric people from across the city encounter one another. The characters—references from Hindi films of the 1970s and ’80s—muddle through the city devoid of the morality that once defined the cinema of that time. The film offers a wild, anachronistic, and comical journey through the underbelly of a city where money defines everything.
