This video presents Jürgen Krusche’s talk from the “What Is Beautiful?” event. Krusche focuses on a provocative thesis: that ugliness is an important aspect of the urban environment. He comes to this conclusion by teasing out the implications of maintaining a well-regulated and tidy public space—that is, a beautiful one—and whether such a space can meet the needs of all who use it.
