The Lab spent an afternoon at Gropiusstadt, the residential complex built in 1960 by modernist architect Walter Gropius. Jörg Stollman—the cofounder with Rainer Hehl of urbaninform.net, and professor and Chair for Urban Design and Architecture at the Technical University of Berlin—is working with his team with and for the residents of Gropiusstadt in a setting of community-based research and design. In this tour, his architecture students joined us to discuss the challenges and potential of Gropiusstadt, shared their discoveries, and provided insights into the residential colony.
